As black women, we are often taught to be strong and hold up the world. That gets exhausting really quickly, so we can be mentally and emotionally drained by the end of the day. Here are some ways to reduce mental and emotional anguish and maintain a positive mental state.

1. Stop trying to take on the world

We don’t have to take on the entire world just because we have it on our shoulders. It’s fine to ignore the rest of the world and concentrate on ourselves from time to time. It doesn’t make you selfish or inconsiderate; it makes you human. I promise the world will keep functioning without you holding it up, for a short while.

2. Take time for yourself

Go to the spa, watch your favorite show on TV, eat ice cream, or take a long walk. Take a little time to do whatever it is that you enjoy. Whatever it is, if it brings you joy and helps you relax, go ahead and do it.

3. Find a hobby you like

There are a plethora of popular and unpopular hobbies. Find something you are passionate about, or even something you enjoy doing on the side, and put it into practice. Learn a new skill or improve the one you currently possess. Photography, calligraphy, blogging, painting, and writing are just a few examples.

4. Go to Sleep

A good nap or a good night’s sleep is unparalleled. Stop what you’re doing, light a candle, soak in a warm bath, relax, and sleep. It is never too early or too late to take a nap. It’s important to rest your brain, and your body to wake up refreshed and mentally recharged.

5. Disconnect from social media

Our lives have become immensely focused on social media. Observing other people’s extraordinary lives and comparing them to our own. Taking a break from social media to focus on our own lives and bring ourselves back to the present moment.

6.  Get ready to go nowhere

Go to the nail salon and get a fresh set, get your hair done or do it at home, and put on a cute outfit. Take some cute photos and videos. To see yourself looking cute and dolled up. It can have a positive impact on your self-esteem and emotional state.
